Bonnet: A Year in Review

Published on

Looking back over the last 12 months of Bonnet

Public EV charging platform Bonnet reveals a year of rapid growth, and is poised to launch a premium service later this summer.

Founded in 2020, the platform has expanded across Europe, simplifying public charging in 32,000 locations across 12 countries – with further expansion planned. The company is on a mission to eliminate charging anxiety, democratising and simplifying access to public charge points ahead of the UK’s 2030 ban on petrol and diesel vehicles. The app ‘maps’ real-time chargepoint availability and functionality and makes payments smoother with one simple monthly payment. Bonnet’s network now boasts 17 chargepoint operators (CPOs) including ESB Energy, GeniePoint, Ionity, Everon, Allego, Fastned, Char.gy, Alfa Power, EV Box, and Shell Recharge.

Patrick Reich, co-founder and CEO of Bonnet, said: “Looking back on the past 12 months, we’re so proud of what we’ve achieving and there is another huge year ahead. Our whole team is totally committed to making charging an electric vehicle simpler – closing the equality gap as transport decarbonises. The response has been incredible from users, and we have a premium product on the horizon which will provide additional features like route planning, as well as direct car connectivity so users can read the state of charge for their EV in real time.

“As the Bonnet platform continues to grow - from new chargepoint locations to fleet partnerships and bringing in top talent - we’re another step closer to achieving our mission of simplifying the charging process and eliminating disparities that are embedded in the system.”

Testament to the company’s supportive customer base is the 70,000+ international users who have downloaded the app to date - and its 4-star Trustpilot rating. Bonnet is also supporting highly ambitious fleets. In July 2022, they announced their partnership with DPD, with the aim of facilitating the delivery company’s ‘clean, green delivery’ mission, particularly its aim to become the largest all- electric delivery fleet in the UK and the most sustainable delivery company.

In March 2022, the company completed its latest funding round, securing $5.5 million (£4m) total investment backed a range of different investor firms including Lightspeed, GV and 20VC.
